The National Security Council, the Domestic Policy Council and pop singer Shakira met today to discuss early childhood development. It seems an unlikely group, but in an interview with Fox News, Shakira spoke knowledgeably on the topics. She gave speeches to councils about early childhood education and nutrition.
After she addressed the councils, she got to go into the Oval Office and meet with Obama, where she says they further talked about childhood development. Shakira is one of the best-selling female artists of all time, and shes using her star power to help programs that need money now.

The programs and efforts that Shakira met with Obama and the councils about are focused on educating parents and leaders about providing proper stimulation and nutrition to children during the first six years of life. Fox News says she was in Washington, D.C. to support the ALAS foundation which encourages early childhood development education in the Latin American world.
Shakira said she and the president also talked about childhood obesity, a cause that Michelle Obama has taken on in the U.S. When Shakira was 18, she started a foundation in Columbia called Barefoot Foundation, which provides education and nutrition to children in areas of conflict.
A little background on Shakira
Shakira got her first record deal when she was 13 years old. At the tender age of 33, she has received honors from the United Nations for her charitable work and is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She throws quite a chunk of payday cash into charitable organizations she represents.
Today, she spoke to Obama and the councils on behalf of the ALAS foundation, which is dedicated to helping Latin American children. She has raised money for victims of natural disasters, and she reportedly has an IQ of 140. Five of her albums are platinum or better. She has performed at several benefit shows, and she performed at Obamas inauguration.
The state of Illinois is suing Cambridge Credit Counseling, both for apparent conflicts of interest and illegally high fees. Cambridge Credit Counseling is a debt management service. They assist with budgeting and discharging debt for their customers.
In the lawsuit, the Attorney General of Illinois says that Cambridge Credit Counseling has an inappropriate relationship with for-profit companies Brighton Credit and Brighton Debt. Im not sure why Cambridge paying the companies is somehow worse than if the Brighton companies had paid them. I can see why it would be a crime for Brighton to pay Cambridge, but not the other way around. I am not an expert. Another issue in the lawsuit is about startup fees. Illinois law prohibits companies like Cambridge Credit Counseling from charging over $ 50 in startup fees. However, Cambridge has been charging startup fees equal to their monthly credit card charges. Obviously, if someone is going to a credit counseling service, that is likely going to be a pretty hefty amount.
Future for Cambridge Credit Counseling
Cambridge Credit Counseling is a nationwide company, so its possible that more states could jump in on the lawsuit. Thus far, it seems no one else is jumping in, but it might not be long.
As far as I can see, the company has not yet released an official statement. Cambridge Credit Counseling is the largest credit counselor in the country. The lawsuit won’t put them out of business, but it could lead to a change of policy, which could be what the Attorney General of Illinois had in mind all along.

The awakening – I began by doing rock band work with younger kids in a group environment and quickly realised that with out some class rules there was going to be a lot of noise and very little constructive progress. I soon realised that the kids who were serious were actually becoming frustrated by those kids who just wanted to mess around. The serious students soon dropped out and the others also dropped out soon after simply because they were not really serious about learning guitar.
Stage 2. Setting rules – I then did some research on what great teachers do to get results with groups of kids. The answer was rules. I did not want to have a lot of rules so I thought about what rules made the greatest impact. I broke it down to 3 rules in the end. 1. Fill in your practice log. All students must fill in their log each day. If you are not practicing there is no point. 2. In class if you have a question put your hand up. 3. Only play when and what I ask you to. These rules ensure students were learning and progressing.
